Breaking News: Big-Quota Holders’ Proposal Rejected by State

Feb 12, 2020

Last Friday, February 14th, the state of California quickly rejected a proposal sent by the big Quota holders receiving millions of dollars per month from the QIP. Operating as “United Dairy Families of California”, the small number of quota recipients who benefit from the QIP, wrote the CDFA proposing a five-year sunset, among other changes to the program.

Secretary Ross swiftly and appropriately denied the proposal and instructed the group to follow the rules for amending the QIP. That proper procedure would be through a petition and signature gathering, leading to a hearing and referendum – the process being followed under Chapter 3.5 by the Stop QIP coalition on behalf of the majority of dairymen in California who are paying the $12 million dollars into the program each and every month!

Your Stop QIP coalition is preparing for the upcoming Hearing that will occur as a result of our signed petition under chapter 3.5. In addition, our lawsuit challenging the implementation of the QIP will be in front of a judge on May 15th

Be wary of ANY new petitions coming forward that demand you continue to pay another 5 long years into a program that was improperly implemented to begin with. The QIP tax continues to drain most dairymen’s bank accounts to the tune of $400,000.00 each and every day! It’s time to end the unfair, illegal QIP dairy tax today – not 5 years from now!

Stay tuned for the state’s hearing on our 3.5 petition and we’ll keep you posted on our lawsuit challenging the program.
We will not quit until the QIP tax is ended once and for all.
